Who could benefit from a Thermage Treatment?

Age

Thermage is all about remodelling of collagen. When someone starts to show signs of skin laxity, regardless of the cause and regardless of their age, Thermage addresses this by contracting the collagen and initiating a cascade of events leading to collagen production and renewal.

Guidelines suggest that facial treatments should commence at around 40 years of age, when significant wrinkles begin to appear, as maintaining optimum levels of collagen is preferable to replacing lost collagen.

If the cause of the loss of skin tone is due to pregnancy or weight loss, for example around the abdomen, Thermage is often used in much younger individual, though it is worth noting that weight gain or another pregnancy is likely to stretch the skin again.  We therefore recommend that a person’s weight should be stabilised and that a woman’s family completed before a Thermage treatment to that area is done.

Skin tone and pigmentation

Unlike lasers and resurfacing modalities, Thermage does not affect the surface of the skin, and can therefore be used safely and effectively on any skin type or colour.

Gender

Nowadays, aesthetic medical therapies, especially the non-surgical ones, are increasing being sought by men. A heightened body consciousness and confidence in seeking treatments means that men no longer feel they need to “age gracefully”.

There is also a perception in the workplace that a younger person may be more productive and several studies have shown that older people, or those that appear older may be prejudiced against when decisions about employment or promotion are made.

This makes subtle yet effective treatments such as Thermage ideal.

Morphology

Thermage works well for faces and bodies with little to no underlying fat tissue,  as it is not ‘weighed down’  with restricted capacity to lift or tighten
